This is a matched pair of the best and deepest color topaz that I have ever seen. The color of this pair is
quite remarkable. Topaz is a Type I stone which means that one expects it to have few inclusions. For this stone type, VSS means that any inclusions would be minute and difficult to see using a 10X magnifier. They would be invisible to the unaided eye. This is the highest grade that the GIA allows for any gemstone. I would call the color of this pair a deep reddish-orange. The colors and cuts appear identical to the eye. Best I have ever seen! This is a lovely and attractive matched pair. It may be used for a pair of rings or possibly the best pair of topaz earrings one would find in a lifetime of trying. Precious Imperial topaz is usually fairly light in color. These are NOT light. These were a surprise to several viewers who had expected something lighter. |

This gemstone is almost unbelievable. It is not only one of the largest gemstones that I have ever seen,
it is the largest precious topaz that I have ever seen offered. It impressive almost beyond words.
I would call the color of this topaz a light to almost medium-light pinkish-tan. It is possibly unique in size
and color. I have never seen a pinkish-tan topaz before, and this is a natural color. As one would expect for such
a huge natural gemstone, there is a slight difference in tone over the length of the gemstone. This is very minor.
Topaz are often quite bright. This stone is especially brilliant because the standard flat crown has been replaced
with a modern checkerboard table. In a checkerboard cut, the top is a series of diamond shaped facets. These catch
the light reflecting from the base of the stone and break it up into a large number of flashes and sparkles.
I would grade this gemstone as a Type I - SI1 to SI2. For a Type I stone like topaz, this grade means that there
will be small visible inclusions that are easy to see with a 10X magnifier. These inclusions were very difficult
for me to see without the magnifier. With the 10X magnifier, one inclusion is resolved into an interesting topaz
secondary crystal. Being the same color as the rest of the gemstone, this was not visible to my unaided eyes. None
of these minor problems were sufficient to show up even in the enlarged photo above.
This is a VERY impressive and attractive topaz. It would make an outstanding and unique pendant.

Price: $775.00 (This is only about $12.50 per carat!) THIS GEMSTONE IS ON HOLD!
This emerald-cut is an unusual elongated cut. I have always thought that this kind of
a cut adds something special to the stone. It is very bright and attractive.
This gemstone comes with a EGL certificate that lists its color as a natural faint orange. I would call it a very
light slightly reddish gold. The EGL group is a lab in Thailand that certifies many of the gemstones that are cut
there. They do not give the clarity grade but do indicate natural colors and those that are enhanced in some manner.
I was not able to see any flaws of any type in this gemstone either with my unaided eyes or with a 10X magnifier.
Let us grade is as VVS. This is an outstanding very large topaz. It would make an exceptional pendant.
I usually consider any topaz except for those that are colorless or blue as precious topaz. The gemologist thinks
that this topaz is possibly too light to be called a precious topaz. The combination of the color, the impressive
size, end unusual cut add up to an unusual and lovely gemstone. I bought right on this one so a good price.
